Philosophical Cancer
The most voracious disease to ravage society is not physical terrorism, drugs, or violence; philosophical cancer (also known as intellectual terrorism) is the most deadly plague that we face. This cancer infects us with mystical tumors and childish nightmares. Sufferers develop the irresistible urge to avoid reality. Such cancer results is the result of intellectual terrorism, which can manifest such symptoms as:
Fanatical beliefs in miraculous power
Anti-technology and anti-progress politics
Blind acceptance of supernatural ideas and health fads
For our purposes, we will make a distinction between two kinds of philosophical cancer:
1. The amicable sufferer who sincerely believes in holistic cures for tough illnesses, and magical freedom from the human condition.
2. Pretentious sigmoids that deliberately evacuate on others
Regardless of the kind diagnosed, philosophical cancer can wreak havoc on the life of a sufferer.
The danger posed by philosophical cancer cannot be overstated: humanity fights for its survival. Without intervention, the prognosis is dire. The most deep-rooted, harebrained beliefs imaginable have already created enormous breaches, and wasted the valuable time and energy of society. Our well being, mental health, and even our bank accounts, are in grave condition. And the dawning of a reinvigorated world is blocked by a legion of stupid asses.
Science and technology advances logarithmically, while humanity runs a high fever. This is due to the effects of philosophical gangrene. The schemes of intellectual parasites feed off our brains. Master mythmakers keep a vice-like stranglehold on us. We may be ensconced in mythology to the point that we will bar anything that might unclog us. As diseased patients, we may be dehydrated by our faith in all natural and supernatural ideas. Were we to ever awaken from our coma, and see the writing on our charts, we could release our strangulated bowels. Delusion-free doctors could then conquer the infection of philosophical cancer once and for all.
