Reality-Based People

One aspect of benevolent power is the ability to outstrip holistic mystics. Seeing things in context, reality-based people can easily outmaneuver fairy-tale-based manipulators. In personal and business endeavors, illusion-free people can leave behind those weighed down with unreality.

Reality-based people are self-responsible.  Rational self-responsibility is distinct from the "morals" of self-righteous, politically based mental giants.

We mislead ourselves and others  by omitting the adjective "rational," and use the word "selfish" instead. This falsely implies that free individuals will, more often than not, pursue senseless action, such as fraud, theft, assault, rape, murder, etc. But everyone, without exception, is selfish, which, in itself, is fine, as long as the selfishness is rational.

Edward Witten
The media highlights deeply rooted irrational actions, and tell us little of the overwhelming prevalence of constructive acts in society.  Destructive acts are contrary to the rational self-interest  of the vast majority of human beings.

Looking at the overall trend of history, we clearly see that when human beings are unfettered and free, the long-range, best interest of everyone is met.

Nonetheless, master manipulators continue to promote self-sacrifice as representing the "highest good." But most individuals, when free to function toward their own rational, non-sacrificial self-interests, achieve prosperity for themselves, others, and society. If productive people routinely allow themselves to be sacrificed for a higher cause, we ultimately lose.
